Between 1966 and 1989, Inken and Hinrich Baller designed and built 25 projects in West Berlin and a residential building in Switzerland. Though most emerged within the constraints of social housing, their architecture consistently exceeded standards: filigree structures, light-filled spaces, large balconies, terraces and gardens, glass partitions for natural illumination, generous layouts, and complex multi-level spatial relations. With their unconventional housing and public buildings, the Ballers created environments that remain models for affordable, high-quality living and vibrant urban spaces. First published in 2022 and quickly sold out, this comprehensive monograph now appears in a revised edition. It offers a detailed photographic survey of the buildings in use, the complete set of restored original plans, as well as brochures, construction photos, and aerial views. Essays and conversations with the architects and residents enrich the reflection.
