This new volume in the Review series presents around 200 mostly unpublished buildings in Tashkent, Genoa, Tbilisi, and Casablanca, cities that experienced rapid 20th-century growth and distinct approaches to modernism. Rather than a mere historical survey, it reveals the underlying logic of their urban fabric through key examples of built heritage. Over four years, architects Emanuel Christ and Christoph Gantenbein, with ETH Zurich students and staff, analyzed these structures to propose original typological solutions for contemporary architecture and urban design. Each case is documented with images, plans, axonometric projections, key data, and a brief description. Introductory texts by Christ, Easton, and Gantenbein link the studies to typology theory, while essays by local experts examine each city’s historic development. A final photo essay captures the urban atmosphere in color.
